Alligator Point News

This is the first entry for our new Alligator Point News feature that we intend to update about every week. We are going to let subscribers know what’s going on in the Alligator Point area whether it is progress on community development projects such as the road or beach renourishment or just happy occasions such as a great fishing trip or wildlife adventure. We also want to give others a chance to share.

It is big news at South Shoal (site of the former campground) and all of Alligator Point with construction in full swing on the infrastructure that includes a section of the relocated road.

M, Inc. has a team of heavy equipment that is cutting new roads and hauling lots of material to increase the elevation of the project. Franklin County is working on plans for the section of the road that will intersect with South Shoal at Harbor Circle.

For those of you that are new to Alligator Point, South Shoal will be a community of about 40 new homes located on between the Gulf and Alligator Harbor. South Shoal will feature a community pool and tennis court as well as an existing 500 foot dock into the harbor. The development will also feature gated access to the soon to be renourished beach in front of South Shoal.

  Spring is bringing out lots of flora and fauna as well.  My wife Stephanie took these pictures recently of a barred owl and horrible thistle.

The new Angelo's and Sons restaurant is coming right along.  It is great to see the restaurant taking shape out over the bay.  Reopening is scheduled for late summer 2007.

The first underground stormwater system for Alligator Point is being installed at South Shoal as part of the infrastructure.  The system will manage the runoff from the new road that will have the first curbs, gutters, and sidewalks of any development on Alligator Point.
