Road and Beach Progress at Alligator Point

Construction of infrastructure at South Shoal is continuing. Curbing for the new roads has been completed and sidewalks will be installed next.  Paving will occur as soon as the base has been prepared.  The straight section of road shown below in the picture will become a section of the relocated main road when Franklin County completes the relocation.

Franklin has authorized the signing of the agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for the acceptance of the state matching funds allocated to the resurfacing of up to 5 miles of Alligator Drive.  Franklin County intends for the resurfacing of Alligator Drive to coincide with the construction of the relocation of the road.

Real estate activity has picked up in the Alligator Point and Bald Point area with two recent closed sales on homes near the beach in $200,000's and in the mid $400,000's for a newer home with a nice view of the beach.  Buyers are most interested in the least expensive homes near or on the water.  The least expensive homes on Alligator Point are priced from less than $200,000 with the least expensive waterfront home at $449,000.  Gulf front homes start at less than $800,000 and homes on the bay at less than $600,000.
