Carrabelle is located where the Carrabelle River meets the Gulf of Mexico in central Franklin County. Located about 90 minutes from Tallahassee, Carrabelle is one of the deepest natural ports in Franklin County with easy access to Dog Island and the Gulf of Mexico. Carrabelle also hosts a full-service airport.

Fishing is a major draw to Carrabelle with access to the bays and rivers for inshore species like Redfish, Trout, and Flounder and offshore species such as Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack and Mackerel.

Carrabelle is surrounder 100’s of thousands of acres of public land that is accessible for hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, birdwatching, and kayaking.

Dog Island is an island community located just offshore from Carrabelle that provides even more opportunities for fishing and exploring. Most of the island is owned by the Nature Conservancy, but there are a few homes and even some full-time residents. Access to Dog Island is only by boat or small plane.

Carrabelle has a small town charm with restaurants, a hardware store, a grocery store, several marinas, motels, and a number of shops. It is rarely crowded and offers something for everyone.
