Sopchoppy is located in the Southwest corner of Wakulla County. Sopchoppy is one of only 2 incorporated cities in Wakulla County. It is a historic town with a number of buildings on the historic register that are still in use today. The train depot from the GF&A railroad and the Sopchoppy High School gymnasium are two examples.

The Sopchoppy area is bordered by the Sopchoppy River and the Ochlockonee River. There are numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation such as fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and kayaking in the 1000’s of acres of state and federally owned properties.

The City of Sopchoppy park on the Sopchoppy River offers camping, a playground, and a boat ramp and hosts a number of festivals throughout the year. The Worm Grunting Festival is one of the most unique.

Ochlockonee River State Park also provides camping, hiking, and a boat ramp near the confluence of the rivers at Ochlockonee Bay.
